Deep Eutectic Solvents Coated with Glycoside Surfactants-Based Novel Micelles for Simultaneous Extraction and In Situ Enrichment of Natural Phenolic Compounds in One Extraction Process

Abstract

Herein, a rapid, effective, and environmentally friendly method utilizing deep eutectic solvents (DES) coated with glycoside surfactants was developed for the extraction of phenolic compounds in ginger peel. This method employs ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography with a diode array detector. Following single-factor optimization, the response surface methodology was employed to further refine the extraction conditions. Results demonstrated that the maximum yield of total gingerols was achieved under the following conditions: a lauryl glucoside concentration of 62.1 mM, a DES volume of 0.92 mL, and a pH of 6.49. Additionally, the new technique provided satisfactory recoveries for the analytes in ginger peel samples (84.940−110.77%), low limits of detection (0.0441−0.0681 μg/mL), and calibration curve linearity characterized by the R 2 values exceeding 0.99, along with excellent precision. Consequently, the proposed method of glycoside surfactant−coated DES presents an eco-friendly and efficient approach for extracting natural compounds with varying polarities from complex plant materials.
