Deep Learning for Robust Vehicle Identification

Abstract

Vision systems are essential tools in many areas, such as security and crime prevention. One of the most important areas of research in this field is vehicle identification, mainly through number plates, which allow not only to know the brand and model of the vehicle, but also the owner.While there are many solutions for automatic number plate detection and reading, difficulties can arise if characters are partially hidden or distorted. Despite advances in artificial intelligence and neural networks, these problems have not yet been completely solved.
