Definición de Objetivo y Alcance para el Análisis de Ciclo de Vida Ambiental del Cemento en el Ecuador

Abstract

The concern regarding the impact of the greenhouse gas emissions has been increasing in the last years due to the increasing global warming awareness. Several studies regarding life cycle inventories of cement production have been carried on around the world, but Ecuador still does not count with a comprehensive life cycle inventory of their cement production. Due to the local origin of the raw materials of cement production, is mandatory to elaborate a Life Cycle Assessment LCA for the specific geologic, industrial and environmental conditions of the country. This study defines the goal and scope for the elaboration of a LCA of the cement production in Ecuador based on the ISO14040-14044 guidelines. The functional unit, the system limits, the impact categories and the data quality are described.
