Deformation and damage of nuclear power station fuel elements under cyclic loading

Abstract: Deformation and damage of nuclear power station fuel element shells under irradiation and cyclic loading due vibrations are studied. Constitutive equations include dependencies for a creep-damage equation with a scalar damage parameter, as well as terms for thermal and irradiation creep strains, elastic, thermal, and swelling strains. The acceleration of the creep-damage process due to cyclic variation of internal pressure is considered with a dynamic creep model, for which constitutive equations are derived u… Show more

“…The paper contains new results of the problem of fracture of solids under creep conditions and forced oscillations, which to the best of authors' knowledge have never been obtained before. The processes of the accumulation of hidden creep damage in solids under these conditions were formerly investigated (Breslavsky et al, 2014(Breslavsky et al, , 2019Lasan, 1949;Taira and Otani, 1986), but the problem of macrocrack development in the case of dynamic creep is solved for the first time. The proposed approach for solving the problem in consideration is based on the efficient technique for reducing the problem of creep under oscillating load into static one by means of asymptotic expansions and averaging over the period the problem.…”

“…In well-known papers, theoretical [9] and practical [10] issues related to the problem of creating and calculating the nodes of vibrating machines have been solved. At the same time, there is a lack of an integrated approach to the process of creating a vibrating machine that simultaneously fulfi lls the specifi ed requirements for rigidity and strength [11] of elastic elements, as well as simultaneously for the accuracy of reproducing the specifi ed vibrations of the working body.…”
