Deformation twinning in Zinc-Aluminium single crystals after slip

Abstract

Deformation twinning in Zn‐Al single crystals deformed by slip in the basal system is examined. The influence of temperature and the content of aluminium in zinc on the twinning stress is investigated in the temperature range from 198 to 373 K. It is shown that the twinning stress rises with increasing temperature and increases with the concentration of Al atoms.
