Delay‐range‐dependent guaranteed cost control for batch processes with state delay

Abstract: A guaranteed cost control scheme is proposed for batch processes described by a two‐dimensional (2‐D) system with uncertainties and interval time‐varying delay. First, a 2‐D controller, which includes a robust feedback control to ensure performances over time and an iterative learning control to improve the tracking performance from cycle to cycle, is formulated. The guaranteed cost law concept of the proposed 2‐D controller is then introduced. Subsequently, by introducing the Lyapunov–Krasovskii function and … Show more

“…In [14], unified robust detection, isolation and compensation for actuator faults are proposed. Wang, et al [15,16] shows that by assuming that the process delay is within a pre-described range, the FTC for such processes can be designed through robust iterative learning control (ILC) or guaranteed cost performance control using linear matrix inequality (LMI).…”

“…In the past few decades, the study on 2D system has achieved significant results [5][6] in both theory and application areas such as multi-dimensional digital filtering, linear image processing, signal processing, process control, and so on. Because time delays may lead to oscillation, instability, and poor performance, study on 2D systems with time delays using the Lyapunov functional method has received considerable attention in recent years [7][8][9].…”

“…The 2D ILC applications have produced fruitful results. [27][28][29][30][31][32][33] In addition, batch processes usually include time delay that most likely leads to system instability and reduce system performance. It means that the changes in the system state are determined not only by current state information but also by historical state information.…”

“…At the same time, research on linear batch processes with time delay has also aroused significant attention among researchers. [30][31][32]34 In recent years, research on nonlinear batch processes has also emerged. 12,13,24 However, the situation when nonlinear batch processes encounter system faults and the corresponding fault-tolerant control has not drawn enough interest.…”
