Delayered IC image analysis with template‐based Tanimoto Convolution and Morphological Decision

Abstract: Supervised machine learning techniques are being pursued for delayered Integrated Circuit (IC) image analysis. However, repetitive data labelling and model training are required for every image set with the supervised techniques. In view of the large scale of IC image set being analysed, techniques that require less human intervention are desired. In this paper, we propose a template-based Tanimoto Convolution and Morphological Decision (TCMD) model for transistor interconnection retrieval in delayered ICs, th… Show more

“…The mean precision, mean recall, and mean F-score on these 50 SEM images are presented for contact detection and differentiation. 5 reported segmentation techniques, namely recursive multi-level thresholding [66], K-means clustering, GTPM [60], TCMD [61], and U-net [50], are implemented for comparison on poly line segmentation. The number of thresholds for recursive multi-level thresholding are experimented from 2 to 7, with the best performance achieved at 3 thresholds.…”

“…The proposed GTPM method and the proposed TCMD model both achieve competitive performances on retrieving transistor interconnection in the poly layer of delayered ICs. A large portion of this chapter is extracted from a paper published at the 2019 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (ISCAS) [60] and a paper submitted to the IET Circuits, Devices & Systems [61], which are co-authored by the author of this thesis.…”
