Delphinidin-3-glucoside suppresses lipid accumulation in HepG2 cells

Abstract: Delphinidin is an anthocyanidin commonly found in various fruits and vegetables. Delphinidin has been known to possess many functions, such as an antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer and anti-muscular atrophy agent. In this study, we attempted to evaluate the effects of delphinidin on lipid accumulation in hepatocytes. The results showed that palmitic acid (PA)-induced cellular senescence in HepG2 cells and reduced the expression of SMARCD1, which is known to regulate senescence-associated lipid acc… Show more

“…Indeed several components in C. ternatea extracts could be acting synergistically. For instance, cyclotides which have been reported to have immunosuppressive properties may contribute (Gründemann et al, 2012, 2013; Thell et al, 2016), as could the abundance of delphinidins (Sogo et al, 2015; Tani et al, 2017; Harada et al, 2018).…”

“…48 Palmitic acid, present in both species, has induced senescence in hepatocellular cells and also impairs the expression of the SMARCD1 gene, which appears to be responsible for the accumulation of lipids associated with aging in the hepatic cell. 49 Squalene and α-amyrin, together with other compounds present in Wrightia pubescens extracts, were effective against HT-29 (cell line colon) with an IC 50 of 1.70 μg mL −1 . 50 The compound β-amyrin showed cytotoxic effects against HCT-116 cells, and was the most active compound in Vicia monantha subsp.…”
