Delplot-Compliant Data: Molecular Observables versus Reaction Intermediates

Abstract: The Delplot analysis for reaction network elucidation involves the use of measured species and their yields as a function of reactant species. Highly reactive intermediates, such as free radical and other mechanistic intermediates, however, will often have large reaction rate constants relative to other species. This can cause the product classification by the Delplot technique, which uses only observable species, to be confounded. The present work addressed this issue, where the limitation of the use of the D… Show more

“…The Delplot technique, proposed by the research group of Klein [38,39], is a handy analysis tool to determine the reaction sequence generating several products. It is recently used successfully to examine the reaction networks of bio-oils hydrodeoxygenation [40,41], and to assist the elucidation of molecular-level modelling [42]. Therefore, we will apply this approach to identify the reaction sequence involved in the HDS reaction system and verify the reliability of the proposed reaction network.…”

“…The review by Kostyteskyy and Broadbelt evaluates the modern computations and information analytics that can be directed at modeling the complex reaction intermediates and pathways involved in the fast pyrolysis of biomass. Finally, the article by Abo-Ghander and Klein revisits the Delplot method to probe its limits for examining networks containing very fast steps.…”
