Delta and Omega masses in a three-quark covariant Faddeev approach

Abstract: We present the solution of the Poincaré-covariant Faddeev equation for the ∆(1232) and Ω(1672) baryons. The covariant structure of the corresponding baryon amplitudes and their decomposition in terms of internal spin and orbital angular momentum is explicitly derived. The interaction kernel is truncated to a rainbow-ladder dressed-gluon exchange such that chiral symmetry and its dynamical breaking are correctly implemented. The resulting physical masses agree reasonably with experiment and their evolution with… Show more

“…Such a course has already been exploited with some success in the calculations of Refs. [315][316][317]. The three-body irreducible kernel has been neglected in these works mainly for technical reasons; however, its leading-order topology of a three-gluon vertex connecting all three quarks vanishes to all orders in QCD as a result of the colour trace, and explicit calculations for light baryons of the non-perturbative next-to-leading contributions confirm the smallness of the term directly [239].…”

“…In the three-body Bethe-Salpeter calculations of Refs. [306,[315][316][317]] the same underlying effective interaction has been used but the assumption of diquark clustering inside baryons is absent. In the last two frameworks all parameters (the scale Λ and the current quark masses m u/d , m s ) are fixed in the meson sector (via f π , m π and m K ) and η = 1.8 is inside the interval where results are independent of η on the level below 5 MeV.…”

“…Analysis of the πN → 2πN reaction would therefore provide very important information about the resonance decay modes into different isobar final states. Presently lattice simulations [11,12] and functional approaches [13] succeeded in calculation of the spectrum of QCD. Therefore unambiguous identification of the excited spectrum of baryons would provide an important link between theory and experiment.…”

“…Presently, lattice simulations, e.g. [47,48], and functional approaches as in [49] are applied to approach the baryon spectrum from the QCD-side. However, despite considerable progress a number of open problems are persisting like the incorporation of the dispersive self-energies from the coupling of the QCD configurations to the meson-nucleon decay channels.…”
