Delta excitation in deuteron-proton elastic scattering

Abstract: Deuteron-proton elastic scattering is studied in the multiple scattering expansion formalism. The four contributions are taken into account: one-nucleon-exchange, single-and double scattering, and ∆isobar excitation. The presented approach was applied to describe the differential cross sections at deuteron energies between 500 and 1300 MeV in a whole angular range. The obtained results are compared with the experimental data. .De Elastic and inelastic scattering -24.10.Jv Relativistic models PACS

“…We have previously proposed to use a model based on the multiple expansion of the reaction amplitude in powers of the nucleon-nucleon t-matrix [11]- [13]. Here we apply the model for description of the deuteron-proton elastic scattering in backward kinematics.…”

“…The four contributions are taken into account: one-nucleon-exchange (ONE), single-and double-scattering (SS and DS), and ∆ isobar excitation. The presented approach was applied earlier to describe the differential cross sections at deuteron energies between 500 and 1300 MeV in the whole angular range [19]. The dash-dotted, dashed and solid lines are the predictions obtained within relativistic multiple scattering model [19] considering ONE+SS terms only, with the DS contribution and with ∆ isobar excitation term, respectively.…”

The dash-dotted, dashed and solid lines are the predictions obtained within relativistic multiple scattering model [19] considering ONE+SS terms only, with the DS contribution and with ∆ isobar excitation term, respectively. One can see that the model describes the behavior of the vector analyzing power A y up to ∼100 • in cms, while the tensor analyzing power A yy is not described over whole range of measurements.…”
