Dem Generation by Means of New Digital Aerial Cameras

Abstract: ABSTRACT:Based on practical experiences with the first generation of digital cameras the impact of four new digital aerial cameras on the DEM generation is estimated. The cameras are evaluated with respect to elevation accuracy, area coverage and image quality. In the derived formulae for the absolute accuracy of elevations a camera factor is applied, which summarizes several features in one number. The produced graphs show the potential of the new cameras regarding the relative and absolute accuracy of automa… Show more

“…A discussion on the utilization of medium format cameras for producing 3D images was written by Warner et al and used medium format Rollei 6006 cameras that could obtain a horizontal accuracy of 0.5 m and vertical accuracy of 1 m (1996) [8]. Currently, data acquisition and aerial photo processing uses the full digital system [9]. The provider and developer of photogrammetry software integrated data processing using AutoCAD and ArcGIS for vector data [6].…”

“…For this purpose, needs to generate a digital terrain model of the Earth's surface and digital aerial images geometry correction, which removes geometric distortions due to tilt of the camera, the central projection and terrain effects. The quality of the geometric image transformation essentially depends on the quality of the digital terrain model [8,9].…”
