Dendrimers: Versatile and Revolutionary Nanocarriers for Infectious Diseases

Abstract

Dendrimers, type of revolutionary nanomolecules, have gained a lot of popularity in recent years. These compounds can be developed and transformed in a variety of ways to produce a molecule that fulfills the requirements. As a result, dendrimers are the subject of extensive research in a variety of nanoscience domains, including one of the most promising biomedicine. Dendrimers are polymeric nanoparticles offering a huge number of benefits in biomedicine because of their nanometric dimensions, biocompatibility, multivalency, and structural perfection. In this review, we provide an overview of dendrimers, and the several types of dendrimers available, and their applications in the treatment of viral infections, as well as briefly summarize the recent patents on dendrimers used in viral infections. Dendrimer use is expected to be a game changer in the treatment and prevention of infectious diseases that continue to plague humanity, and it has the potential to dramatically improve the quality of people's lives.
