“…2B) than with electrostatic slides (Figure 3A). This result is consistent with our previous report that the functionalization of surface with dendrimers reduces the non specific adsorption of fluorescent material [8]. In addition, the "donut" formation of spots frequently obtained after deposition of DNA molecules by contact spotting was no longer observed since the μCP is a "dry" deposition technique.…”

“…Experiments reported in this paper were carried out using two different type of glass slides that differed by their surface functionalization: positively charged amine glass slides (Ultra Gap, Dow corning) and dendrislides, which are glass slides that have been functionalized with nanometric spherical dendrimeric particles bearing aldehydes reactive group at the periphery for covalent attachment of the 5'-NH 2 probes [7,8]. These two types of functionalized slides were printed for 15 sec with a stamp that has been incubated for 30 sec with a 10 μM solution of 35-mers 5'-NH 2 probe in Na-phosphate buffer at pH 9.0.…”

“…Dendrimer-activated surfaces have been demonstrated for higher immobilization efficiencies and lower detection limits. [28][29][30][31] Here, PAMAM-SAM served to increase the surface density of the reactive aldehyde groups and also acted as a 6.7 nm spacer [27] for easier access of target DNA towards immobilized probe DNA. Figures S1,S2 (Supporting Information) show the preparation scheme of two control surfaces containing ald-SAM patterns surrounded by either a (1H,1H,2H,2H-perfluorooctyl) trichlorosilane (FOTS)-SAM background or a hexamethyldisilazane (HMDS)-SAM background.…”

“…The Generation-6 (G-6) PAMAM molecule, terminated with 256 primary amine groups and 6.7 nm in diameter, [27] was used to increase the surface density of aldehyde functional groups to increase the oligonucleotide-immobilization efficiency. [28][29][30][31] Current techniques for patterning biomolecules involve the use of polymer-based templates, [32][33][34][35] which can be removed mechanically without the use of organic solvents after biomolecule immobilization. However, serious limitations exist in each case.…”
