Densification Behavior and Microstructure Evolution of Mo Manocrystals by Microwave Sintering

Abstract: Fabrication of full-densified Mo metal with fine grain size and uniform microstructure is highly desired to improve its mechanical property. In this work, microwave-field-assisted thermal sintering was utilized to promote the fast densification of Mo nanocrystals, and the compact with high relative density of 99.8 % and fine grain size of 2.09 μm was obtained at 1450 °C for 0.5 h with heating rate of 20 °C/min, which is much superior to the compact with density of 99.13 % and grain size of 7 μm fabricated by t… Show more

“…Electromagnetic waves (EMWs), a kind of natural energy, are widespread in nature and can penetrate all aspects of technology and life, [1][2][3][4][5] such as advanced wireless communication technology 6 and industrial microwave sintering technology. 7 Electromagnetic radiation refers to the process by which EMWs are emitted to the outside world, a process that occurs all the time. EMWs carrying high energy can seriously damage electronic devices and even destroy the cellular structure of living organisms, badly affecting the health of human beings and other creatures.…”

“…In the experimental section of this work, a direct growth strategy is applied to synthesize MoCh 2 compounds (MoS 2 , MoSe 2 , and MoTe 2 ) and several hybrid heterostructures (MoSSe, MoSeTe, MoSTe, and MoS 0.67 Se 0.67 Te 0.67 ) on graphene supports through a facile microwave-assisted heating approach. Due to the rapid reaction mechanism and simple operating procedure in recent days, the microwave irradiation synthesis has been explored vigorously, in addition to providing the high yield and high purity of resultant materials. …”
