Densities and Derived Volumetric Properties of Ionic Liquids with [Nf2] and [NTf2] Anions at High Pressures

Abstract: The densities of four ionic liquids: 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide ([E3Mim][Nf2]), n-propyl-n-methylpyrrolidinium bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide ([PMpyr][Nf2]), 1-butyl-1-methylpyrrolidinium bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide ([BMpyr][Nf2]), and 1-butyl-1-methylpyrrolidinium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonil)imide ([BMpyr][NTf2]) were measured at temperatures (293.15 to 413.15) K and pressures (0.1 to 60) MPa. The experimental density data were modeled using the modified Tammann–Tait equation and … Show more

“…Thus, in this study, the measured ionic conductivities are compared as a first step. Figure 4 shows density plots versus temperature for the 15,16,23,24 The density of all the compositions decreases linearly with temperature. Larger ρ values are obtained for compositions of higher K[FSA] content.…”

“…where reliable data on absolute vapor pressures and vaporization enthalpies were available. [26][27][28][29][30][31] No obvious dependence of K'-values on the type or symmetry of the cation, as well as on the chain length of the alkyl substituent was detected. Thus, an average value…”

“…where K ' encompasses now all constants presented in the Knudsen and in the Sauerbrey equations, as well as the configuration of the experimental setup. The K '‐value is specific for the experimental setup used in this study and it was determined from the QCM experiments with a series of ionic liquids [C n mim][NTf 2 ], [C n Py][NTf 2 ], and [C n C n im][NTf 2 ] where reliable data on absolute vapor pressures and vaporization enthalpies were available [26–31] . No obvious dependence of K '‐values on the type or symmetry of the cation, as well as on the chain length of the alkyl substituent was detected.…”

“…On the other hand, the behaviour of the isobaric thermal expansivity, α p , is not really typical for this property, but it is quite common for ionic liquids. 45,46 It goes down along isotherms when the pressure increases and rises with the temperature drop at constant pressure. %.…”
