Density and morfometric analysis of sia-sia (Sipunculus nudus) from Nusalaut island beach waters central Maluku

Abstract: Sia-sia (Sipunculus nudus) has a shape resembling a worm, is an organism that usually lives in coastal areas, especially around seagrass areas, this biota tends to inhabit the bottom of the water especially in the substrate so that it is categorized as an infauna benthic organism and is able to inhabit areas with soft and hard substrates. This is a deskriptive type of research, to describe or describe information about the density and morphometrics of Sia-sia  from the coastal waters of Nusalaut Island, Centra… Show more

“…Dried sa‐sung is sold in stores or even in websites as a Pho condiment because of their strong umami taste. Poor communities in Indonesia may use them as a daily side dish when the fishing declines and there is no other source of protein (Ferdinandus et al, 2022).…”

“…Studies on Sipuncula in Indonesia primarily focus on its nutritional content (minerals, nutrient fatty acids) (Fakhrurrozi, 2011;Nurhikma et al, 2017;Rahayu et al, 2019;Silaban, 2012Silaban, , 2017Silaban, , 2018Silaban, 2019;Fatimah et al, 2021;Yuslina, 2022). Limited research is available on the biological and ecological aspects of Sipuncula species (Hoeksema and Best, 1991;Erliani, 2021;Erliani et al, 2021;Ferdinandus et al, 2022;Matulessy, 2021), while studies related to the genetics and the influence of Sipuncula on ecosystems are almost nonexistent (Table 1.). Based on existing studies, this paper attempts to summarize the species distribution, habitat, utilization, and future management options and research for Sipuncula in Indonesia.…”
