“…The use of reference minifantom object instead of maximum reading value could probably improve direct data comparison and minimize the measuring error. Density conversion factors, introduced in this way, could probably solve this issue for a given CBCT machine [20]. Some further investigations are needed to confirm this possibility.…”

“…Due to the simplicity of this method, and the fact that no better diagnostic methods have been put forward since, this classification remains in wide use. However, the recent spread of CB-CT had led to a rise in the accuracy of bone data for implant placement sites 5,6) . Wakimoto et al examined CT attenuation during artificial filling of jawbones following tooth extraction (socket preservation) and reported the efficacy of HU evaluation during implant placement 7) .…”

“…First of all, there is a data acquisition, using some type of X-ray radiation, collecting two-dimensional basic projections of digital images. This is treated as 'raw data' (RD) [11,14,16,17,36,37,[52][53][54][55]58]. In a second step, a computer will analyse the collected two-dimensional basic projections.…”

“…Several names exist for dental Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) technology in English, like Cone Beam Volumetric Imaging [40] or Digital Volume Tomography [15,58]. In Germany, they used the DVT abbreviation (Dental Volume Tomography or Digital Volume Tomography) rather than the CBCT abbreviation [10][11][12]33,43,61].…”
