Dependence and resource commitment as antecedents of supply chain integration

Abstract: PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to explore and further the existing knowledge on supply chain integration (SCI). This study proposes a model and several hypotheses to better understand some SCI antecedents, dependence and resource commitment and their relationships with performance.Design/methodology/approachBased on diverse theoretical approaches, the author develops and tests an integrated model in which dependence and resource commitment are proposed to enhance external integration, leading to an increa… Show more

“…The process produced 122 answers, an acceptable number for analysis (e.g. Arias-Pérez et al ., 2022; Proksch et al ., 2021; Sideridis et al ., 2014; Tarifa Fernández, 2022; Wolf et al ., 2013). Data capability, SCC and competitor turbulence are estimated based on the first measurement point, whereas operational performance relies on the second.…”

“…The knowledge process is integrated into the supply chain performance based on dependence and resource commitment. The study reveals that resource commitment and dependence support improve antecedents of supply chain performance (Tarifa Fernández, 2022). The intellectual capital and environmental performance are analyzed through the mediating role of the green supply chain process (Khan et al ., 2021).…”

“…2.1 Back-end systems of online shopping malls Online shopping is a unique business-to-consumer-to-consumer (B2C2C) transaction supply chain (Wang et al, 2021;Reinartz et al, 2019). From the perspective of organizational performance, an agent utilizes two views for product procurement: (1) purchasing goods upstream from the supply chain based on ordering materials and (2) prioritizing orders based on historical supply information from previous shipments and estimating future market demand (Meena and Jena, 2022;Fernandez, 2022). These procurement views require significant cash and are at increased risk from market fluctuation but provide rapid delivery times.…”
