Dephosphorization of Ferromanganese

Abstract: Phosphorus in steelmaking processes is a harmful admixture and at every stage of the production of steel must be removed from the melt. One of the sources are ferroalloys, which are used to introduce alloying element for steel. The paper presents method of dephosphorization of high and medium carbon ferromanganese using mixture based on CaO-CaF 2 , containing in its composition CaSi and CaC 2 .
