Abstract:Carbon capture and storage (CCS) is a vital technology in the fight against climate change. Eastern Australia is an important site for CCS activities where one of the operators is starting a CCS project with target to store 1.7 million metric tons (MMT) of CO2 per year, ensuring enhanced safety and permanence in the same reservoirs that have securely held oil and gas for millions of years. This paper explores the benefits of deploying novel cementing technology in CCS wells in Eastern Australia.
