The Talmo area lies within an unnamed syncline west of the Long Plain Fault along which, farther south, Silurian volcanic and plutonic rocks have been thrust east over the mainly Emsian Devonian Hatchery Creek Group (Hunt & Young, 2012) in the Wee Jasper Syncline adjacent to the Taemas-Black Range Synclinorium ( Figure 2).
