Islam has its own view on the issue of liberalism, in this case freedom that is not limited to require or bind people to anything. The meaning of freedom itself in Islam is that everyone is free to express everything but must have its own Islamic value or freedom to religious texts (Al-Qur'an and Hadith). Therefore, this paper will discuss Islam and liberalism, what should be known from the basis of Islam and liberalism, so that we understand the issue itself. The method in this research uses the Descriptive Analysis method, which is research by collecting and presenting data that is in accordance with the truth, then the data is arranged neatly, the data is processed and analysed to provide an explanation related to the problems in the discussion. liberalism at this time has exceeded the limits that exist in Islam, so this understanding is feared to cause doubts in the people in the existing faith of the people.

Radicalism is a delicate subject with the potential to disrupt the natural order. This study aims to determine the meaning of radicalism, the genealogy of religious radicalism, the factors that cause radical Islam, and deradicalization efforts. This research was a qualitative method with descriptive approach. Based on the research results, it is known that radicalism's teachings and movements are a movement that leads to ideological changes both politically and socially through violence, which is contrary to Islamic values. The challenge of radicalism is overcome by various deradicalization efforts so that it can maintain the nature of Islam itself. Deradicalization is not intended as an attempt to convey a "new understanding" of Islam or to refute the creed but rather as an effort to purify the understanding of what and how Islam is.Abstrak Radikalisme merupakan suatu pembahasan yang sangat sensitif dan merupakan paham yang dapat menggoyahkan tatanan kehidupan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui makna dari radikalisme, genealogi radikalisme agama, faktor terjadinya Islam radikal, serta upaya deradikalisasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa ajaran dan gerakan radikalisme merupakan suatu pergerakan yang menuju kepada perubahan ideologi baik secara politik maupun sosial melalui jalan kekerasan, dan ini bertentangan dengan nilai-nilai keislaman. Tantangan radikalisme diatasi dengan berbagai upaya deradikalisasi sehingga dapat menjaga fitrah dari agama Islam itu sendiri. Deradikalisasi bukan dimaksudkan sebagai upaya untuk menyampaikan “pemahaman baru” tentang Islam dan bukan pula pendangkalan akidah, melainkan sebagai upaya purifikasi atau pemurnian pemahaman tentang apa dan bagaimana Islam.

Acts of violence in Indonesia often affect various other aspects of life, resulting in a loss of harmony in society and various shocks in several aspects of Indonesian society. This article aims to discuss religious moderation from Muhammadiyah’s perspective through an in-depth analysis of its basic principles and implementation. This paper is the result of research at LPPM Unisba with qualitative methods. While, the techniques are observation, interviews, and literature study. Muhammadiyah has been able to establish intense relations between citizens of different religions. The findings of this study are that Muhammadiyah is a moderate ideology that seeks to have a dialogue between text and context in the relationship between religions and nations in general. Religious Moderation in the Muhammadiyah perspective is aligned with the frame of social, national, and ummah reality. Religious moderation is not meant to reduce religious practices in order to achieve harmony. It is neither in the realm of worship, nor in the social order of nation’s citizens. Muhammadiyah has moderate opposing views in the context of multiculturalism. The update in this article is that religious moderation from the Muhammadiyah perspective does not mean abandoning the roots of Islamic teachings. But it is done selectively and functionally.
