Deregulation and the crisis of dairy markets in Europe: facts for economic interpretation

Abstract: The European Union is currently experiencing a structural crisis of overproduction in the dairy sector, following a rapid and farreaching deregulation of markets. No agricultural policy tool so far has been able to solve this crisis in a coordinated way on a European scale. This inability of European authorities is linked to the use of economic theories that deny the possibility of such a crisis.
