“…Since that time, tumescent anesthesia has also proved to be useful for vein stripping and for many other procedures in skin surgery [1,6,9] However, it was found that when maximum recommended dosages were exceeded, as advocated by some authors [12], death sometimes resulted in connection with additional maximum doses of morphine and diazepam analogues or even inhalation anesthesia [18]. This paper describes a method of administering diluted anesthetic solutions that achieve widespread infiltration for nearly all procedures in skin surgery while remaining below the maximum recommended dose [1,6,9].
