Dermatomyofibromas Arising in Children: Report of Two New Cases and Review of the Literature

“…Dermatomyofibromas can be distinguished from the aggressive tumor dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans in that the latter displays a storiform pattern, invades the subcutaneous tissue, entraps the adnexal structures, and is extensively positive for CD34 . Differential diagnoses of mesenchymal tumors in children may include desmoid fibromatosis, fibrous hamartoma of infancy, connective tissue nevus, smooth muscle hamartoma, and myofibromatosis .…”

Punch biopsy with clinical follow-up as an alternative to surgical excision has been proposed (3), but especially in the case of patient 1, a punch biopsy was not an adequate approach.…”
