Abstract: Recebido em 23/4/08; aceito em 13/10/08; publicado na web em 26/1/09 PHYSICOCHEMICAL AND MECHANICAL PERFORMANCE OF PORTLAND CEMENT CONCRETE WITH RECYCLED STYRENE-BUTADIENE TYRE-RUBBER WASTE. Physicochemical and mechanical techniques were carried out to characterize three concrete tyre-rubber waste dosages such as 5, 10 and 15%, w/w. The elastomeric material was identified as styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR). It was observed that the growing SBR content in the mixture decreased the concrete performance. The best … Show more

“…Sukontasukkul and chaikaew (2006) mentioned that crumb concrete blocks show less abrasion resistance and also that increasing the crumb rubber content leads to a reduction in the abrasion resistance. This result was confirmed by Ling et al (2009). Freitas et al (2009 studied the abrasion resistance by immersion of rubber waste concrete, reporting a lower degradation than the reference concrete when only 5% rubber per mass was used to replace the coarse aggregate.…”

“…In the studies by Freitas et al (2009) was verified a reduction in compressive strength with increasing rubber content of added sugar. Li et al (2004) also observed reduction in axial compressive strength of concrete with fibers tire and is not related to any such loss characteristic of the material.…”
