Desgaste Psíquico en estudiantes universitarios del Sur de Jalisco-México: Una descripción del síndrome Burnout

Abstract

Academic life is usually an important phase of the personal and professional development of young people, determining their future, dynamics and demands, presenting stressful factors, such as subjects with high levels of demand, jobs or internships that lead them to be tired, irritable and worn out. psychic. From the psychosocial aspect of the concept, it can be seen that students also have university-related stressors and personal situations that can lead to burnout. Therefore, the objective of the research was to analyze psychological wear and tear in university students. For this purpose, the Battery for the Study of Psychosocial Working Conditions was applied to a population of 1,334 students of various careers, belonging to the Centro Universitario del Sur in Jalisco-Mexico. The results demonstrate the prevalence of psychological exhaustion symptoms in men, associated with careers with a greater male presence such as telematics, veterinary medicine and zootechnics; in addition, factor 1 of the battery applied, showing higher rates of health alterations in cognitive-emotional aspects and showing a greater presence in women. It is concluded that the psychological wear present in the university population does not show gender distinction, but rather occurs according to the career that the students go through.
