Design and analysis of polarization independent conformal wideband metamaterial absorber using resistor loaded sector shaped resonators

Abstract: A polarization independent conformal wideband metamaterial absorber has been proposed in this study. The proposed absorber unit cell consists of a circle and a slotted sector, loaded with four lumped resistors between them to improve the absorption bandwidth. Measured and simulated results exhibit more than 90% absorption in the frequency band from 3.90 GHz to 10.5 GHz under the normal incidence angle, and the fractional bandwidth is 91.6%. The proposed absorber is polarization independent due to the symmetric… Show more

“…The real (Z) and imaginary (Z) should be nearly one and zero, respectively, as impedance of the MMA must be equal to free space impedance to achieve perfect absorption [10,28]. [40]. Table 1 shows that the real (re) and imaginary (im) values of normalized impedance are close to one and zero at perfect absorption, respectively.…”

“…The via structure reported in reference [16] provides better results for the TE polarisation and worse performance for the TM polarisation. The 3-D configuration following reference [18] showed stable performance for both polarisations. However, the simplicity of the proposed planar single-layer design has an additional feature when compared to the complexity of the reported structures.…”

“…From that point forward, various kinds of Single-Band [11][12][13][14][15] and Multiple-Band [16][17][18][19][20] MA contemplates were designed. Moreover, polarization-independent [21][22][23][24][25] and Tunable Perfect Metamaterial Absorbers (PMA) [26][27][28][29][30] were structured in the Gigahertz, Megahertz, and also in Terahertz. Mehmat et al [31] have proposed an Absorber which consists of a split ring resonator (SRR) and it has the perfect absorption between 4 and 16 GHz.…”
