Design and experimental research of stress measurement system for ferromagnetic components based on ACSM method

Abstract: Stress is one of the important factors that cause fatigue and fracture of ferromagnetic components, and its accurate measurement is of great significance to ensure the safety and reliability of components. Accordingly, a set of alternating magnetic field stress measurement system was designed and developed. The system includes a measurement sensor, DDS signal excitation module, signal conditioning module, signal acquisition, and processing module. The system was used to carry out uniaxial tensile testing of Q2… Show more

“…It can be seen that the turning angle of the stepping motor can be realized by increasing or decreasing the number of pulses [13]. The speed and acceleration of the motor can be controlled by inputting the pulse frequency of the driver into the controller, so the stepper motor driver plays the role of signal translation in the whole power drive system, and its performance can directly determine the performance of the power drive system [14]. Whether a two-phase or three-phase stepping motor is used, every step of its movement requires several sets of coils to be cycled in a specific sequence.…”

“…It has been proven that stress can be effectively evaluated through ECT [15], [16]. The stress on the specimen causes changes in electromagnetic properties such as electrical conductivity and permeability due to piezo-resistivity and inverse magneto-strictive effect, and results in changes to the ECT signals [17], [18]. Bai et al [18] applied pulsed eddy current thermography to improve the sensitivity and spatial resolution for the evaluation of the anisotropic dependency of electrical conductivity of steel subjected to tensile stress, but the cost of the infrared camera is prohibitive, and the experimental set-up is complex.…”

“…Figure 3 shows as the loading force increase from 12kN to 28kN, the resonant frequency of the LC tank varies linearly from 1.644MHz to 1.658MHz. Due to the high-frequency eddy current effect, the change of magnetic permeability can be omitted and only the electrical conductivity is dominant because the permeability and the conductivity act differently for the inductance [6][7]. The former enhances the inductance because of magnetization while the latter weakens the inductance due to the eddy current effect [8].…”
