Design and implementation of a new high step‐up DC‐DC converter for renewable applications

Abstract: Summary In this paper, a new structure for a DC‐DC boost converter is proposed. The presented converter provides a high voltage transfer gain with lower duty cycle. Low current and low voltage stress on the switch, enlarged area of operating in continuous conduction mode (CCM), reduced size of the inductors, and the input filter are the main advantages of the proposed converter. The high voltage transfer gain with low number of elements has made it suitable to implement. Hence, using only one switch has made t… Show more

“…Renewable energy sources like fuel cells and solar PV have relatively low peak voltages, and high voltage gain converters are required to enhance and standardize the output voltage. For the past few years, many studies on DC‐DC converters have been conducted to attain high voltage gain 4,5 . All of these converters are classified into two types: non‐isolated converters and isolated converters.…”

“…Also, the power sources such as PV and wind need to extract the maximum power for efficient operation. To overcome this problem, an auxiliary DC–DC buck–boost converter will be necessary to control and stabilize the output voltage of the sources 5–11 . However, the converter should have continuous and low ripple input current, which is necessary to connect to renewable energy sources.…”
