Design and manufacturing a novel screw‐in‐pipe inspection robot with steering capability

Abstract: In this article, a novel in-pipe inspection robot is designed and manufactured in Kharazmi University KharazmPipeBot. This robot is able to move through any pipeline with a predefined diameter range with a variable pitch rate and report any desired data within the pipe with the aid of the installed camera. To achieve the highest stability of the robot through the pipe, the robot's movement is based on the screw locomotion protocol provided by the aid of its rotor and stator. A simple suspension is designed for… Show more

“…These functions are completed by the master controller in the decision-making module. When the transmission line hardware clamping quality detection robot is in the starting state, the master controller receives the message instruction from the user layer [5][6] and combines the surrounding environment information from the LiDAR of the equipment layer. The ROS open source algorithm is used to realize the real-time tracking, path construction, obstacle avoidance and other functions of the transmission line hardware crimping quality inspection robot.…”

“…The robot uses rollers as a walking mechanism and is mainly used to detect and analyze the condition of underground drainage pipes in different highways in Mexico. The robot is capable of moving through any pipe in a predefined range of diameters at a variable helix angle and reporting any required data inside the pipe with the help of an installed camera [11].…”

“…In recent years, pipeline robots have emerged as effective tools to improve the accuracy and efficiency of inspections and prevent pipeline leakage accidents. These specialized devices are designed for narrow spaces and offer strong adaptability and reliability [5,6]. They can be equipped with various sensors, such as ultrasonic, infrared, and magnetic flux leakage sensors, to detect defects such as leakage points, corrosion, and pits in pipelines [7].…”
