Design and optimisation of die casting process for heavy-duty automatic transmission oil circuit board

Automatic transmission is a key factor for autonomous driving. The transmission condition is highly affected by the quality and quantity of transmission oil in the system. However, the oil condition is not monitored in the system, and the oil change interval and method are still a subject of discussion. This paper analyzes the effects of oil changes in automatic transmissions. The measurements were carried out before and after the oil change with the same external conditions. With the vibration measurement method, data can be collected without disassembling the parts and during operational conditions. Furthermore, time- and frequency-based analyses were conducted to compare different transmissions’ operations. The results have shown that the effect of oil degradation is measurable on the amplitude of the signals and, therefore, predictable with vibration diagnostics. During the evaluation, the maximum values were compared on measurements with at least a 2-s length.

En este artículo, se desarrolló un algoritmo, basado en la técnica de enjambre de partículas (Siglas en inglés - PSO) para optimizar los procesos de fundición a presión y por compresión, utilizando modelos matemáticos para describir el comportamiento de ambos procesos. En la fundición por compresión el modelo matemático describe un problema con múltiples objetivos y restricciones, y en la fundición a presión el modelo describe un problema de un solo objetivo con restricciones. El desarrollo del algoritmo PSO se realizó con el software FORTRAN 90, y los resultados se compararon con los obtenidos usando un algoritmo de optimización basado en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje (Siglas en inglés - TLBO), demostrando buenas capacidades en la optimización de parámetros en fundición a presión y por compresión. Se observó que con el algoritmo PSO se consigue una solución óptima en todos los procesos y los tiempos computacionales fueron mínimos.

The cooling-slope (CS) casting technique is one of the simple semi-solid processing (SSP) processes a foundryman uses to produce the feedstock. This study attempts to develop mathematical regression models and optimise the CS parameters process for predicting optimal feedstock performance, which utilises tensile strength and impact strength to reduce the number of experimental runs and material wastage. This study considers several parameters, including pouring temperature, pouring distance, and slanting angles for producing quality feedstock. Hence, multi-objective optimisation (MOO) techniques using computational approaches utilised alongside the caster while deciding to design are applied to help produce faster and more accurate output. The experiment was performed based on the full factorial design (FFD). Then, mathematical regression models were developed from the data obtained and implemented as an objective function equation in the MOO optimisation process. In this study, MOO named multi-objective Jaya (MOJaya) was improved in terms of hybrid MOJaya and inertia weight with archive K-Nearest Neighbor (MOiJaya-aKNN) algorithm. The proposed algorithm was improved in terms of the search process and archive selection to achieve a better feedstock performance through the CS. The study’s findings showed that the values of tensile and impact strengths from MOiJaya_aKNN are close to the experiment values. The results show that the hybrid MOJaya has improved the prediction of feedstock using optimal CS parameters.
