Design and Optimization of a Large-Scale Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator

Abstract: Direct drive permanent magnet synchronous generators have numerous advantages such as improved reliability, low maintenance, long life, and developed performance characteristics. In recent years, many researchers have worked on this generator to enhance the performance of the generator, especially for the wind turbine application. The focus of this paper is on the development of a step-by-step method for the design of a permanent magnet synchronous generator. Then the winding function method is used to model t… Show more

“…The non-symmetrical current waveforms are due to small variation of the emulated input resistance of the converter. The voltage controller should have sufficiently small loop gain at harmonics of the ac line frequency, so that variations in emulated input resistance; Re , are much slower 1) Equivalent inductance for the PMSG internal inductances (2) Three capacitors with this size are used (3) Two capacitors with this size are used Fig. 7.…”

“…The second is the lack of saturation in the teeth. With the current density JA/mm2, conductor area 42 ; A=S3×VLL×J in the equation, VLL represents no‐load line to line voltage. Considering Equations (5) and (6) and the equations obtained in this section, two criteria are provided.…”

“…The tangential force causes the armature to torque and operate. Besides, the fluctuation of the radial electromagnetic force will cause the vibration of the motor, which will cause the vibration and noise of the motor [9] .According to Maxwell's stress tensor theory in the air gap of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM), the air gap flux density can be optimized by the algorithm to reduce the electromagnetic radial force and optimize the vibration noise.…”
