“…2,3-Dihydrofuro[2,3-b]quinolin-4amine (8) [12] was prepared by the titanium(IV) chloride catalyzed reaction between anthranilonitrile and γ-butyrolactone; this compound, as the others in the reported series, was claimed to have an AChE (IC 50 ) activities between 5 µM and 0.1 µM without assigning a specific values to defined molecules. It is interesting to point out that 2-(2-oxopyrrolidin-1-yl)-N-(2,3-dimethyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydrofuro[2,3-b]quinolin-4-yl)acetoamide (MKC-231) (9) [13,14] showed no significant AChE inhibitory activity (probably due to the substitution of the nitrogen at C-4), but proved to be a powerful high affinity uptake enhancer.…”

“…Pyridine nucleus is an important structural motif well distributed in numerous naturally occurring compounds. Some pyridine derivatives have been used as herbicides, fungicides, pesticides etc . Recently, cyanopyridines have gained considerable attention due to its interesting pharmacological and chemotherapeutic activities that include anticancer, antitubercular, antimicrobial activities.…”

“…Its derivatives have been designed and synthesized as therapeutic agents [21][22][23][24], as herbicides, fungicides, pesticides and as fluorescent dyes [25,26]. They have been commonly used as scaffolds for natural product synthesis (e.g., NAD nucleotides, pyridoxol (vitamin B6), and pyridine alkaloids) [27][28][29].…”
