Design and synthesis study of the thermo-sensitive poly (N-vinylpyrrolidone-b- N, N-diethylacrylamide)

Abstract: The reversible addition fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization method was adopted here to prepare a series of thermo-sensitive copolymers, poly (N,N-diethyl- acrylamide-b-N-vinylpyrrolidone). Their structures, molecular weight distribution and temperature sensitivity performances were characterized by the nuclear magnetic resonance (1HNMR), the gel permeation chromatography (GPC) and the fluorescence spectrophotometer, respectively. It has been identified that the synthesis reaction of the block co… Show more

“…As expected, the incorporation of more hydrophilic monomers such as PEGMA or GAL in the nanogels increased the T VPT . Similarly, the incorporation of a monomer with a high transition temperature, such as N -vinylpyrrolidone (VP), also raised the response temperature of the materials obtained [ 38 ]. The response temperatures in phosphate buffers of pH 7.4 and 6 are similar to the values in pure water, showing differences of only one to two degrees.…”

“…The thermo-sensitivity of the block copolymers wa studied by measuring the lower critical solution temperature in aqueous solutions. Block copolymers of PNVP with poly(N,N-diethyl acrylamide), PDEAM were synthesized by the RAFT methodology and sequential addition of monomers [115]. DEAM was polymerized first using trithiocododecanoic acid-2-cyanoisopropyl as the CTA (Scheme 26).…”

“…However, the selection of an optimal thermosensitive polymer (or polymer compositions) that satisfies the experimentally established parameters is still a challenge. Many researchers have used methods to synthesize thermosensitive polymers to achieve the desired phase transition temperature, biodegradation parameters, etc., achieving impressive results [ 23 , 24 ]. However, directed synthesis unfortunately only aggravates the problem of in situ systems.…”
