Design Low Order Robust Controller for the Generator’s Rotor Angle Stabilization PSS System

Abstract: The electrical system's problem stabilizes the electrical system with three primary parameters: rotor angle stability, frequency stability, and voltage stability. This paper focuses on the problem of designing a low-order stable optimal controller for the generator rotor angle (load angle) stabilization system with minor disturbances. These minor disturbances are caused by lack of damping torque, change in load, or change in a generator during operation. Using the RH∞optimal robust design method for the Power … Show more

“…Two basic methods are used to obtain a low-order robust optimal controller. The first method designs a high-order controller according to a stable optimal control algorithm and then applies model order reduction algorithms to obtain a lower-order stable optimal controller [13][14], while the second method uses optimization algorithms to design a low-order controller that satisfies the requirements of sustainable optimal control [15].…”

“…The main task of the power system is its stable operation, which is reflected in the appropriate load angle of the generators, frequency stability and voltage stability. Knowing the exact load angle of the generators enables the design of more stable and better controllers (Kien et al, 2021). The last works that can be found in the literature related to the calculation of the load angle is the work presented by (You, 2021), where a load angle measurement algorithm of synchronous generator adaptive to non-integer teeth ratio has been investigated.…”
