Design of a Wideband Differential Phase Shifter With the Application of Genetic Algorithm

Abstract: Abstract-In this paper, a wideband differential phase shifter has been analyzed and designed using Genetic Algorithm (GA). The differential phase shifter consists of two fixed main lines of length λ/2, and parallel open and short stubs of length λ/8, which are shunted at the edge points of the main lines, respectively. With the application of GA, an impedance match and minimum phase deviation for the desired phase shift over a wide frequency band are obtained. In order to verify the optimum results, simulation… Show more

“…The desired phase shift is represented as the difference between the phases of the two transmission lines (i.e., main and reference). Various designs were reported with improved bandwidth [10][11][12][13]. In [10], pattern ground plane was utilized to introduce a new design of Schffman phase shifter.…”

“…Phase shifters (PS) play an extremely important role in phased array systems [1,2]. Among the available options, reflection-type phase shifter (RTPS), adapting the passive loads, suffers from small phase shift, poor linearity and inconvenience of digital controlling; however, there are a lot of advantages, such as continuous phase shifting, compact circuit structure, bidirectional phase shifting,…”
