Design of beam optics for a Super Tau-Charm Factory

Abstract: Beam optics design for a Super Tau-Charm Factory (STCF) that planning in China is presented in this paper. This STCF is an electron-positron circular collider characterized with high luminosity, wide energy ranges as well as high longitudinally polarized electron beam. In order to achieve high luminosity, the recently proposed collision scheme based on large Piwinski angle and crab waist sextupole will be adopted. In this paper, the beam optical parameters and their design basis for the STCF stor… Show more

“…Three chromaticity correction methods with NSGA-II are utilized for the design and optimization of 7BA arc cell lattice of Super Tau Charm Facility (STCF) [8], a circular 𝑒 + 𝑒 − collider proposed by USTC in recent years. It covers the center-of-mass energy (CME) between 2.0 and 7.0 GeV, and the peak luminosity is beyond 0.5 × 10 35 𝑐𝑚 −2 𝑠 −1 when the CME is 4 GeV.…”

“…The full exploitation of these schemes, or variations of them, in a working e + e − collider is a high priority issue in the world's accelerator physics community; d the critical factors that are limiting the luminosity have been identified and steady progress is being made to solve them. 34 This progress and the potential payoff in higher luminosity have inspired proposals in China 35 and in Russia 36 for futuristic "Super τ -charm factories"with luminosity goals that are ∼ 50× that of BEPCII. With either, or both, of these facilities, the accumulation of trillion (or more) J/ψ-event data samples would be feasible, and an order magnitude improvement on the BESIII sensitivity for non-SM CP -violation detection using the e + e − → Ξ Ξ process would be possible.…”

“…There are two super τ-charm factories being proposed, the STCF in China [71] and the SCT in Russia [72]. Both machines would run at CM energies of up to 5 GeV or higher with a peak luminosity of 10 35 cm −2 s −1 which is a factor of 100 improvement over the BEPCII.…”
