Design of Cross-Coupled Dual-Band Filter With Equal-Length Split-Ring Resonators

Abstract: Abstract-A compact dual-band bandpass filter using equal-length split-ring resonators (SRRs) is proposed in this paper. The tworesonance frequency response of equal-length split-ring resonator is described in detail. A cross-coupled dual-band filter with four equallength split-ring resonators is designed. Several finite out-of-band attenuation poles are realized to improve the selectivity of the proposed filter. The measurement of the filter is in good agreement with the simulation.

“…At first, we consider the problem faced in the first case of Section 3, for which R = 4, N = 4, θ 2 /θ 1 = 2.5 and ∆θ/θ 1 = 0.2, giving a transformer with monotonous step to step impedance variation. The input reflection coefficient absolute value |Γ in | of the microstrip transformer, computed via the full-wave analysis, is compared with the |Γ| given by Equation (8) in Fig. 10, where |Γ| and |Γ in | are displayed as functions of θ.…”

“…On the other hand, in many cases of practical interest (cellular/PCS, WLAN, GSM/DCS and other dual-band applications [6][7][8][9]) impedance matching over two separate bands can be required. So, in the last years various design methods for dual-band impedance transformers have been proposed [10][11][12][13][14].…”

“…Planar filters have been widely used, such as coupled filters [1,2] and stepped-impedance resonators with transmission zeros [3,4]. They are attractive because of the planar structure and low fabrication cost.…”

“…Therefore, to reduce the volume and weight of communication circuits and equipments, many dual-band components, including antennas [1], couplers and filters [18,19], have recently received much attention and been developed. A number of publications have provided a variety of solutions to the realization of dual-band bandpass filter [2][3][4][5][6], which is a key component filtering unwanted frequency in RF systems [14].…”
