Design of Fluxgate Sensors for Different Applications from Geology to Medicine

Abstract: In this study, we have shown that fluxgate sensors can be used for different application areas. Alternative sensor configurations have been developed for three different application areas. These are mainly rod-and ring-type fluxgate sensors. In the first study, a measurement system with the rod-type fluxgate sensor has been developed in order to monitor the local magnetic field distributions on a magnetic tape (e.g., credit card). With this system, the magnetic recording data on the credit card were measured a… Show more

“…This sensor was capable of sensing high‐range magnetic fields. [ 1 ] Afterward, a portable heart‐rate monitoring system was designed and developed with a vacquier geometry fluxgate sensor. It achieved a sensitivity of 195 V Oe −1 , and low noise of 100 pT/√Hz@1 Hz and high sensitivity measurement was used to analyze heart diseases.…”

“…
Research on magnetic sensors has been carried out in recent years to enhance sensing capability, enabling us to understand the Earth's magnetic field changes [1] with better sensitivities of 10 À10 to 10 À2 T. [2] Magnetic field sensors have been extensively investigated according to their operating principles and actions in various applications. Sensitivity and selectivity are the two essential properties crucial in the evolution of magnetic field sensors to achieve high fidelity outputs.

“…High-resolution magnetic field measurements play a significant role in many different technological and scientific research areas such as nondestructive testing [1,5], dangerous objects detection [12] and demining [6], archeological [18] and geological studies [19] as well as space research [21]. In spite of radical advancements in the development of magnetoresistive [8] and magnetoimpedance sensors [4], fluxgate sensors [14] are the most crucial sensor type for room temperature, high resolution, and nearly constant magnetic field measurements.…”
