Design of Solar-Powered Aeration System for Shrimp Ponds of Farmers in Thailand

Abstract: In Thailand, shrimp farmers traditionally rely on the electricity supplied by government organization to perform air aeration in their shrimp ponds. This paper designs an affordable solar-powered aeration system for shrimp ponds, which promotes the productivity of Thai shrimp farmers. The aeration system consists of three parts: the control of maximum power point (MPP) tracking, the Z-source DC-DC converter, and battery charging. In the first part, the energy was controlled by algorithms like perturb and obser… Show more

“…Several recent reports have suggested new methods of aerating shrimp ponds such as wave (surge) aeration (Guan, Liu, Song, & Zhang, 2012), microbubble aeration (Liu, 2017), on‐site oxygen generation and pure oxygen contact systems with aeration control by dissolved oxygen sensors (Nguyen & Matsuhashi, 2019; Tien, Matsuhashi, & Chan, 2019), solar‐powered aerators (Chaithanakulwat, 2019), and submersible impeller aerators (Marappan et al, 2020). These systems have yet to be perfected for use in shrimp ponds.…”

“…This prototype consists of a DC voltage capacitor, current filter inductor, IGBT circuit, gate drive circuit, delay circuit, current detection circuit, and a voltage detection circuit. Accordingly, writing commands for processing with the math model function of MATLAB/ Simulink programs into microcontrollers [24][25][26][27][28][29][30][31]. Moreover, active power and reactive power control with vector simplified optimization techniques based on the D-Q spindle reference frame for single-phase grid-connected inverter.…”

“…The height and size of modern buildings, especially highrise buildings, limit the natural ventilation, which makes mechanical ventilation and air supply a necessity, and as a result, more and more equipment rooms appear on the roofing of modern buildings [9]. Facing these challenges, architects tactfully extend the glass curtain wall to achieve a shading effect on the roof, improving the exterior design effect of the building without compromising the original layout (Figure 1).…”
