The aim of this study is to investigate the current status on usability evaluations within the field of Human-Computer Interaction in the journals published in Turkey-originated journals. Within this scope, it was aimed to explore how the research methods, sampling strategies, tools and Technologies were used in the usability studies. In line with this purpose, research studies published between 2014-2019 (November) years on DergiPark and Google Scholar were examined with "insan-bilgisayar etkileşimi", "kullanılabilirlik", "Human-computer interaction" and "usability" keywords. Within the 118 articles reviewed, those on the use of technology in teaching an area or on a general assessment of a technology (N=81) were excluded. Additionally, 1 of the remaining 37 research articles was excluded from this study because it was the literature reviews type. Based on the mentioned criteria totally 82 research articles were eliminated and 36 research articles were examined in this study. The identified (remained) articles were analyzed by using an adapted version of Article Review Rubric developed by Baran (2014) according to experts opinions. According to findings of the study, a) there is no apparent trend towards usability in the field of human-computer interaction; b) research methods and validity-reliability explanations have been stated in very few studies; c) the types of participants, data sources and technologies available in the research are diverse; d) while the number of user-testing studies involving applications is reported in 19 articles, technologies used for data collection were reported in only 9 articles. These findings are important for the interpretation of the trend in studies on usability and for the elimination of the deficiencies related to sample selection/data collection process/data collection tools/ validity and reliability.
