Designing driving and control circuits of four-phase variable reluctance stepper motor using fuzzy logic control

Abstract: Precise positioning and repeatability of movement for stepper motors require designing a robust control system. To achieve that, an analytical model of a four-phase variable reluctance stepper motor is presented. A proposed open-loop driving circuit is designed to control the motion of a variable reluctance stepper motor. The driving circuit has an ability to drive the motor into two-step angles, i.e. a full step (15 • ) and a half step (7.5 • ). The direction of movement can be either into clockwise or counte… Show more

“…Simulation was performed using MATLAB/Simulink software for the following cases: (1) no-load condition, (2) abrupt load-torque changes, (3) system parameter uncertainty, (4) sudden phase interruption and (5) impact of noise. The performance of the proposed AC-TSKFC was compared with that of two benchmark controllers: (1) VRSM-FC proposed by Auday et al (2018) and (2) IHSM proposed by Yazdani et al (2018). In this study, a study of the performance indices, namely, the root means square error (RMSE) and the integral absolute error (IAE) has been made (Ganesh Babu et al, 2020).…”

“…One biggest challenge in SRM drives is torque ripples. Therefore, compared with other methods like magnetic structure design to achieve minimized torque ripple performance, advanced control methods have been considered further, including model predictive control [2], fuzzy logic controller [3], internal model control [4], Lyapunov function-based robust controller [5], and H-infinity robust technique [6,7]. Moreover, applications of nonlinear robust adaptive algorithms for SRM control have been proposed in [8,9].…”
