BACKGROUND: The condition of dyslexia is a learning disability leading to difficulty in acquiring basic skills of reading, spelling, and writing. It is a disorder with a neurological origin that does not affect the intelligence of a person. It is estimated that between 5% and 10% of the population suffering from dyslexia, but this number can also be as high as 17% because dyslexia may not be recognized and diagnosed in some individuals and because some of them may not disclose that they are diagnosed. In Malaysia, it is estimated that 4% to 8% of children attending school have dyslexia. Dyslexics tend to be more artistic and creative than others. AIM: This study examines the awareness of dyslexia disorder among university students. METHODS: The data are collected from the participants through self-made survey questionnaires that consist of 25 questions per questionnaire. A descriptive cross-sectional study is conducted from April 2019 to May 2019. RESULTS: The current study reflected that dyslexia, not a disease, thus it is not curable. Individuals with dyslexia require extra patience and effort from the family members, teachers, as well as the public, especially in their learning process. We believe that a lack of understanding about this disorder by the public will bring negative impacts to dyslexic individuals such as causing unwanted misunderstanding, causing mental stress to the dyslexics, bringing negative impact to their learning processes, and so on. CONCLUSION: Our study results suggest that the knowledge level of dyslexia among university students considered as lower than average.

There is always some kind of barrier to impaired individuals in performing daily chores. It is difficult for them to perform and carry out even the simplest of tasks with ease. Whether it may be reading, writing, communicating, or studying, it becomes an impossible job for them to execute. Systems are separately designed for people with different types of impairments, but there lacks a system that can solve all problems as a whole. The purpose of our research work is to create one single system which is able solve all issues for deaf, dumb, blind, and learning disability individuals, which is not only simple to use but also provides accurate results. By using the developed system, people with different disabilities can perform simple daily activities with much ease than before. The developed system, which is a website, helps impaired individuals to read, write, communicate, etc. through various application programming interfaces (APIs). Mobile apps are fast emerging as assistive learning platforms for pre-schoolers, as well as junior school students. In fact, not just the parents but also the junior-level teachers encourage children to use mobile learning apps due to its many benefits such as interactive, enjoyable and informal, etc. Needless to say, the advent of mobile apps must also equitable for students with learning difficulties to take advantage of the same learning opportunities as other students. Students with learning difficulties suffer from disabilities in language, information processing, etc. that prevent them from performing their academic tasks in the same manner as other students. It is crucial to realize the development of mobile learning apps for students with learning difficulties requires inclusive designs that make the apps usable for them. The paper presents an evaluation of a mobile appDisleksia Belajar, which developed for students with dyslexia in junior school to learn the Malay language. Dyslexia is a common learning difficulty that causes problems with language processing e.g. reading and writing. The evaluation is performed using SUS and Fun ToolKit (v3) techniques, which intend to explore the usability and engagement of the mobile app. There is a total of 12 students with dyslexia aged 7 to 12 years old recruited as the participants. The findings contribute towards understanding and improvement for the future development of mobile learning apps for students that having similar difficulty.
