“…The multifaceted nature of various non-modifiable factors associated with patient experience creates inherent challenges in measuring patient satisfaction scores (Table 8). It has been shown that older patients (variably defined as greater than 50, 65, or 70 years of age) are more likely to be satisfied with their surgical experience compared to younger patients (Caljouw et al, 2008; González et al, 2005; Mira et al, 2009; Capuzzo et al, 2007; Capuzzo et al, 2005; Hawkins et al, 2012; Danforth et al, 2014; Hall & Dornan, 1990; Teunkens et al, 2017; Maurice-Szamburski et al, 2013; Martin et al, 2011). This observation, however, is controversial and some studies have found no correlation with age and patient satisfaction in the surgical setting (Schoenfelder et al, 2010; Hamilton et al, 2013).…”

“…Some authors [28] recommend adapting the way in which preoperative information is delivered on the basis of ethnicity, mother language and socio-cultural level. Thus Noll [29] has shown the need to improve the training of medical personnel including pediatric surgeons in communication with parents.…”
