“…This result agreed with Suhaj, Rácová, Polovka and Brezová (2006), who studied black pepper methanolic extract irradiated at doses ranging from 5-30 kGy. Moreover, the current results agreed with Polovka and Suhaj (2010), who reported that the highest value for the TBA of irradiated caraway samples was achieved at a dose of 10 kGy. An analysis of some irradiated edible and medicinal herb extracts at doses of 10, 20 and 30 kGy showed a change in the active components (Koseki et al, 2002).…”

“…Gamma radiation causes an increase of soluble phenols in some spice extracts (Variyar, Limaye & Sharma, 2004). On the contrary, in some studies, no significant change was observed when comparing the phenolic content in the non-irradiated samples with that of irradiated samples at a dose of 20 kGy in Agaricus blazei (Huang & Mau, 2007), 30 kGy in Rosmarinus officinalis L. powder (Perez, Calderon & Croci, 2007), and 5 to 30 kGy in Carum carvi L. and Laurus nobilis L. (Polovka & Suhaj, 2010). The total flavonoid content for thyme irradiated with a dose of 5, 10 and 15 kGy increased significantly by 43.66 ± 0.035, 47.42 ± 0.043 and 40.81 ± 0.039 mg .100 g −1 , respectively.…”

“…In particular, himachalene and germacrene were found to be the most characteristics compounds in cedar wood and cedar leaf, respectively. These findings show that the chemical compositions of essential oils vary, and are probably dependent on plant age, soil, and climatic conditions (Polovka and Suhaj, 2010 ; Kamatou et al, 2012 ).…”

“…Листья и плоды растения применяются в традиционной медицине народов разных стран для снижения высокого уровня глюкозы в крови, при лечении заболеваний вызванных грибковыми и бактериальными инфекциями. Извлечения из листьев лавра проявляют про-тивовоспалительные, успокаивающие, противоэпилептические свойства [6][7][8][9][10]. Настой из сухих листьев используют при различных желудочно-кишечных заболеваниях, а также при метеоризме в качестве ветрогонного средства [11].…”
