“…To avoid any Raman signal background for the test lines, the LF strips were then washed by dipping into 0.01 M Tris buffer (pH 8.4) for 5 minutes, then allowed to dry at room temperature. Strips were then fixed onto an in-house 3D printed Raman aperture adaptor that was used as a sample holder 35 and the test lines were scanned using a handheld Raman spectrometer (CBEx, Snowy Range Instruments, USA). All the SERS measurements were carried out using orbital raster scanning (ORS) mode over the range 600-1800 cm -1 using the Peak 1.3.68 software.…”

“…DEP force was employed to improve the performance of mixing and preconcentration. In another case, paper-based microfluidic SERS system was applied for point-of-care test of microRNA [120]. Driven by capillary action, this system can realize multistep SERS-active nanoparticle conjugation, target microRNA capture, washing, and SERS detection automatically.…”

“…For that reason, researchers have utilized and combined different methods to increase sensitivity, accuracy, and reproducibility of the results. To make POCT and on-field monitoring more affordable, interestingly, supporting devices gradually have been scaled down to minimal but still in well-functioned forms such as printed heater [ 182 ], portable fluorometer [ 195 ], mobile power supply [ 196 ], handheld Raman spectrometer [ 197 ], etc. This is indeed a very dramatic transformation that triggers the competition between manufacturers and allows small enterprises to enter the market, thus opening up the opportunity of commercialization of µPADs.…”
