Detection of Fake Accounts in Instagram Using Machine Learning

Abstract: With the advent of the Internet and social media, while hundreds of people have benefitted from the vast sources of information available, there has been an enormous increase in the rise of cyber-crimes, particularly targeted towards women. According to a 2019 report in the [4] Economics Times, India has witnessed a 457% rise in cybercrime in the five year span between 2011 and 2016. Most speculate that this is due to impact of social media such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter on our daily lives. While thes… Show more

“…These findings will have a greater impact in understanding complex patterns [10] and problems while predicting. Machine learning, as an approach here, will extract knowledge from data and discover hidden relations among them [11][12].Through machine learning, we will be able to extract the pattern [13] of how much each factor weighs and how it affects the results of prediction [13]. With the use of machine learning, we can distinguish between malignant and benign tumors [14] and get a predicted prognosis.…”

“…Artificial Intelligence (AI) offers a potential bypass to this bottle neck and therefore substantially reduce the required human labor. AI describes the ability of computers to perform tasks and reaching decisions through learning either directly from the data (unsupervised methods) or from past experience where the correct outcome is provided (supervised methods), imitating human intelligence (e.g., Dey, 2016;Copeland 2020).…”

“…Since the beginning of this century, machine learning (ML) related techniques have been intensively developed in the fields of the computer vision and natural language processing [12][13][14][15] . Among the methods for machine learning, the supervised learning and unsupervised learning have been largely applied to various fields other than the computer sciences.…”
