Detection of hydrogen peroxide in rainwater based on Mg-Al-carbonate layered double hydroxides-catalyzed luminol chemiluminescence

Abstract: Using a green catalyst of luminol chemiluminescence (CL), Mg-Al-carbonate layered double hydroxides (denoted as Mg-Al-CO(3) LDHs), a novel, sensitive and rapid CL method was developed for the determination of hydrogen peroxide (H(2)O(2)). The corresponding linear regression equation was established in the range of 0.05-10 μM for H(2)O(2). The detection limit (S/N = 3) is 0.02 μM and the relative standard deviation (RSD) for nine repeated measurements of 1.0 μM H(2)O(2) was 2.9%. This proposed method has been s… Show more

“…Thus, various chemiluminescence (CL) systems have received considerable attention in the past years. To further improve the sensitivity of CL assays, various catalysts have been investigated, including metal nanoclusters [1], metallic nanoparticles (in particular noble metal nanoparticles) [5,6], metal oxide nanoparticles [7,8], carbon dots [9][10][11], layered double hydroxide (LDH) [4,12], quantum dots [13,14], and LDH-quantum dot nanocomposites [15].…”

“…The determination of hydrogen peroxide in biological systems and environment is of tremendous significance due to its effects on the ecosystem and the human health (Ahmed et al, 2012;Wang et al, 2011). Hydrogen peroxide advices as a "substance generally recognized as safe (GRAS)" reagent for food with the mentioned concentration limit value of 80 ppm (Kumar et al, 2012).…”

“…High concentrations of H 2 O 2 would cause irritation to dyes and shin, it affects human health [2]. On the other hand, the determination of H 2 O 2 concentration is important in food [3], clinical [4] and environmental applications [5]. There are many methods which can be used for the quantitative analysis of H 2 O 2 in solution, such as electrochemical method [6][7][8] and spectroscopy [9][10][11][12][13][14].…”
